It’s 6:30 AM on a Monday morning- it’s time, once again, to start a new week. 

You drag yourself out of bed feeling just as tired as you did the night before. Your stomach starts to rumble and you’re craving something sugary to make up for your low energy.

Once you get your day going, the sugar wears off and you are crashing again.

Does this sound familiar to you?

If you’re sick and tired of struggling with fatigue, weight that won’t budge, a clouded mind, and cravings for all the wrong foods, then it’s time to try something new. 

I would like to share with you how the Truly Vibrant Reset came to be.
 
Coming out of the time of Covid and a particularly stressful time personally, I was not happy with how I felt. 

I felt tired and sluggish all the time, having to take naps during the day and experiencing frequent afternoon cravings. I had gained a bit of weight around my middle, and the doctor said my blood pressure had increased.  
 
So I decided to do a little better – exercise a bit more, eat a little healthier. I went to the grocery store, planned out my food, and even created a spreadsheet to track a weight loss goal for my birthday.
 
To make a long story short: three weeks later, I hopped on the scale, and it had not budged.
 
Doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that and relying on my willpower for it to all come together - that did not work.
 
I went back to the drawing board.
 
As a holistic nutritionist, I have an extensive library of fantastic books. So I started doing more research. And I found the concept of a health reset. This idea checked all the boxes that had not even been present in the other methods I had tried.

After conducting more research and testing out the time frames and food types, I have developed the 10-week Truly Vibrant Reset.

Curious to learn more about how I got started in holistic health?

Before deciding to become a Holistic Nutritionist, I had another career as an accountant. I decided to go back to school in my 50’s to follow my passion to support women in their journeys to better health and wellbeing. Although going back to school at that age was challenging, following my dream has been very rewarding. Now I help women make important shifts in their own lives so they can also reach their fullest potential.

You might be wondering why I decided to become a Holistic Nutritionist when I grew up. I had always had an interest in finding ways to deal with the various ailments that bothered me. These included digestion issues, sugar cravings, and concerns about my weight. As I began to age, I noticed a decline in my physical endurance. Instead of accepting these issues, I wanted to do something about them.

But one of the key reasons for my own transformation was that my youngest daughter became sick in her Grade 11 year. It was a scary and difficult time in our family. As her mother, I felt like I needed to do something. It was as if all my learning to that point had happened so that I was prepared to help her.

I immersed myself even more deeply in nutrition education, as I believe that food can transform a body’s health. Slowly, my daughter got better as we stripped away many foods until her body began to repair itself and healing finally took place. My daughter learned what no longer worked for her body. She continues to be careful about the foods she consumes to remain symptom-free to this day.

In my own life, I’m just not willing to accept anything that I have the power to change. As a mature woman, I am still energetic and strong, physically fit, and I love being a leader in both my family and my community.

As women, we are often tasked with taking care of others at the expense of our own health and wellbeing.
We don’t always have the time or ability to figure everything out, because there is a lot going on in our lives.

Donna Thoen is a Holistic Nutritionist and Certified Nutritional Practitioner through the Institute of Holistic Nutrition in Vancouver, BC. For over 15 years Donna has accumulated experience and knowledge through reading, education and life experiences in holistic nutrition and healing. Donna’s library is always growing, and she considers herself a lifelong learner.
